Drainage Analysis & Design
Drainage Analysis occurs when existing drainage infrastructure serving a roadway, subdivision, or a commercial development is studied. A drainage analysis can also consist of a study of the overland offsite storm water drainage towards a proposed site to be developed using existing topography. A drainage analysis will identify and confirm drainage infrastructure deficiencies and the need to intercept or divert offsite overland draining towards a proposed site based upon current precipitation data.
Drainage Design occurs on projects where property is being developed for the first time. It may also occur on roadway construction and reconstruction projects where roads are widened to meet present and future traffic demands.
When earthen land is developed into a building, parking area, or roadway both drainage analysis and design will be required. The drainage analysis will determine the existing conditions of the property or roadway. The drainage design will consider the proposed changes to the earthen land, correctly size the drainage infrastructure, and determine the mitigation required to impose no impacts downstream of the project area.
