City of Houston Drainage Tax Adjustment

City of Houston Drainage Tax:
The City of Houston has implemented a drainage tax on all residences and businesses within the City of Houston.  The purpose of this tax was to develop a fee based upon the amount of impervious cover for each resident and business within the City of Houston.  This tax is utilized to fund drainage and street improvements throughout the Houston City Limits.City of Houston Drainage Tax Credit & Adjustment:
In many cases, several businesses and residences within the City of Houston noticed a significant increase in their taxes due to this drainage tax. Should your home or business use, collect, store, and/or detain storm water runoff, your facility could be eligible for a drainage tax credit.

Additionally, a site specific impervious study can be complete for a residence or commercial facility to compare against the City of Houston’s impervious analysis used to develop the drainage tax for a specified property.  In the case the residence or commercial facility’s site specific impervious study yields less impervious area,  the property owner can protest to adjust their drainage tax.
